That may have been one of my major issues with the Twilight series that I couldn't really put my finger on - main characters who obsess over their love to the point of ditching all other relationships SUCK (no pun intended) and become very one-dimensional.

You may be interested in trying Marissa Day (pen name of Sarah Zettel) in the romance genre. It's not vampires, but I think she said something about wizards and fairies in Victorian-ish London. (I met her at the sci fi con we just went to. The "sex" scene she read from her first Marissa Day book was stellar.)
