That was my first thought too, but actually it doesn't really matter that the battery is not replaceable: even if I'd had an easy way to stop it from whatever the heck it was doing, I'd still have to send the whole unit in to be replaced since it's misbehaving.
Which isn't to say that it's not an irritating thing to have sealed devices, just that it's a moot point while the warranty is still valid since it is not my job to fix problems at this stage.
And yeah, our tablets are fairly similar hardware with similar foibles, made by the same company.
