In just-Terri related news, the blood donation went well yesterday, but not without hitches. This may be TMI for some, but I find it fascinating. Also, it's handy for me to record this stuff somewhere, and here's a good a place as any.
First hitch: I had to take the second iron test, but I passed it with a 12.7 (sorry, can't remember what the units are there). No problem.
The bigger excitement came later: the phlebotomist managed to miss the vein in my left arm. I was impressed that kind of nothing came out -- I expected more oozing of some mysterious bodily fluid from a hole that size, but I guess I don't know what else my arm is composed of? Was she mostly just going through subcutaneous fat? In hindsight, I should have asked, but I wasn't curious until later because I was more concerned by the array of excitement as a variety of phlebotomists came to inspect my other arm.
Much patting later and "Can't you feel this one?" later, they agreed upon who was going to stab me and we got down to it, and things went smoothly from there. Smoother than usual, even: it felt like it went reasonably fast, even though I can often be a slow bleeder.
There's absolutely no bruising on either side, so despite the two pokes, I'm feeling even more awesome than usual! Nice to feel like a superhero for a day. :)
