Crochet Pony Pattern inspired by My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic -- Now available for free!

As many of you know, I've been working on a pattern for making pones based on My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

I finally sat down and stuck the pattern and the pictures together, so now you can all make ponies! And best of all, the pattern is free! (This is mostly 'cause I'm that kind of person, but it is complex for me to sell anything due to the conditions of my work visa here in the US. Which is to say please don't ask me if I can sell you a finished pony; I can't.)

I haven't commented on your blog before, but I can promise you that I've been waiting with bated breath for the finished pattern and am so glad it's done! I've seen lots and lots of MLP:FiM patterns or projects around but your's is definitely the cutest and most show accurate. ^^ I'm going to be busy making so many of these!

Thank you! I hope it'll be worth the wait. I've been seeing all sorts of folks' ponies and I'm hoping to do a roundup post with some pictures this weekend, assuming I don't get too busy making ponies for friends myself. :)

How big is this pony? Is is soooo adorable!

That depends entirely on the yarn & crochet hook you use. If I recall correctly fluttershy is just over 5 inches and derpy a bit smaller, and they're both made with medium weight worsted yarn (a 4 on the yarn scale) and a 3-4mm hook. You could make totally tiny ones with fingerling yarn or much bigger ones with bulky weight yarn!

I searched Google for a cute amigurumi style crochet MLP, and I liked yours the best. Thanks for writing and sharing this pattern. I especially liked your wing design. I made Rainbow dash and Pinkie Pie. I used 9mm black plastic eye posts for the eyes and a few stitches of yarn to suggest a Cutie Mark.

Yeay, I'm glad you liked the pattern! I've had a terrible time finding eyes I really like at the size I'm working now (I'm working on a felted set of the mane 6, but they're super tiny!), so I'm especially glad to hear the black ones worked well for yours.
