Birchbox October 2013, revisited

So, remember that "Karuna Clarifying Treatment Mask" that I really really hated? I just found the photos I took and while they're all creepy, this is too hilarious not to share:



I believe that expression fully captures the horror I felt while using this product. MY FACE IS MELTING.

Edit: Since I crafted this much shorter version of the review for a friend on FB, I think I should share it with the class here as well:

The Karuna Clarifying Treatement Mask hurt like burning, dripped everywhere, and was generally awful. It did make my face very soft, but I think that was due to the fact that it may have been slowly eating it. I'm pretty sure it is made of facehugger digestive juices.

I hit space to go to the next page of my reading list and saw this and jumped. I may have nightmares now.

PS birchbox is awesome! I didn't know they multiple types? Because I don't think I got facehugger juices in my birchbox at any point. But maybe I just didn't pay enough attention?

They're a bit randomized. You can sort of tell since products you got months ago still show up in the free shipping section; I'm guessing there's several types of box that go out each month and they rotate you through some relevant ones. I think they're also mildly based on your quizzes, so I suspect I got facehugger juices due to admitting that I sometimes get acne. (usually "clarifying" products are related, anyhow.) This actually especially awful, because I bet this product would have hurt even more if I'd had any acne the day I tried to use it.

And sorry for the unintended trauma! Although if it makes you never want to buy this product, my work here is done. ;)
